Residents will have another chance to hear about the latest progress on the Old English Square project during an informational meeting next week.
The Mullins Company of Braintree has scheduled a session for Thursday, May 10 at 7 p.m. at Stanney’s Ice Cream Shop on 300 Union St
The company held a meeting this past Tuesday.
A proposal to study the possibility of taking the property by eminent domain is going before the upcoming annual Town Meeting.
About 150 residents and some town officials signed a petition to take the 79-acre property, build municipal golf course, and lease a section to the Randolph-Holbrook Water Board for drinking water wells.
Assessors Chairman Robert Powilatis, who spearheaded the petition drive, explained that frustration about what he called the lack of progress and Mullins officials changing their plans prompted his proposal.
Mullins Company Executive Director Michael Mullins, who told the Sun that the project has not altered, wants to forge ahead with the development.
The proposed project is to be located next to the Wright Brothers Sports Center on Union Street.
The development is to include 211 condos, more than 60,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, four single-family homes on English Road, horse back riding stables, and an ecological wastewater treatment system.
The project was approved by Town Meeting two years ago and has been going through the state and local permit process.
The planning board has been holding hearings about a number of conditions set for the project, some of which are being challenged by the Mullins Company.
Mullins officials said that the planning board is expected to approve the project within the next 60 days.
The company will be sending information packets to Town Meeting members.
